In the 4th week of the Basketball THY Europa League, Anadolu Efes defeated the Greek representative Olympiakos 91-89 in the match where it fell behind by 15 points.
With this result, Anadolu Efes got its second victory in the organization. Olympiacos suffered its second defeat.
Olympiakos started the sold-out match at the Basketball Development Center effectively and finished the first period ahead 23-11 with Vezenkov’s scoring play.
Anadolu Efes recovered after Larkin stepped in in the second quarter, and with Thompson’s 3-point field goal, they reduced the difference to 1 with 3 seconds left: 41-42. Olympiakos went to the locker room with a 44-41 advantage thanks to Dorsey’s last-second points.
The third period of the match was balanced. Anadolu Efes was effective with Bryant and Olympiakos was effective with Fournier in outside shots. The Greek team entered the last quarter ahead 70-65.
Olympiacos started the fourth quarter with consecutive points and gained an 8-point lead in the 31st minute: 67-75. Taking the lead in the game, Anadolu Efes managed to turn the score in its favor for the first time in the 37th minute with Bryant’s accurate outside shot: 85-82. The remaining episode witnessed great excitement. Despite falling behind again, Anadolu Efes took advantage of Olympiacos’ mistake and took the lead with critical baskets scored by Larkin and Bryant, and won the match 91-89.
The jump ball of the match was made with a pink ball to draw attention to the importance of early diagnosis in breast cancer.
This year’s volunteer supporter of the “Pink Ball on the Field” project, which was implemented for the 11th time in cooperation with Anadolu Efes and Anadolu Health Center, was model, actress and presenter Çağla Şikel. Şikel performed the symbolic jump ball of the match with the pink ball.
