Monaco-Lille (0-0): the Monegasque leader stumbles on the Losc defense

The series of five consecutive victories in Ligue 1 has come to an end. This Friday evening, facing the solid Lille defense, leader Monaco failed to get away. By settling for a draw (0-0), Adi Hütter‘s players can fall from their throne in the event of PSG’s success against Strasbourg (Saturday, 9 p.m.).

AS Monaco let slip two points at home, unable to escape the trap set by Lille, invigorated by their exploit in the Champions League against Real Madrid (1-0) a fortnight ago.

In an often closed match, Monaco had possession of the ball in the first half but never managed to appear dangerous. The first alert, however, came from a free kick from Caio Henrique, which did not worry Lucas Chevalier (13th) too much.

Lille still can’t get out. Jordan Teze, who was making his return to the Monegasque eleven, took the opportunity to try his luck but did not find the target (36th). Between the leader and the fifth before this day, the debates are not really exciting. And nothing really changes when you return from the locker room.

A red card for Monaco

The equation even becomes complicated for the leader after the expulsion of Teze (61st). The Dutchman collides with Gabriel Gudmundsson’s face. The referee Mr. Wattellier does not hesitate to issue a direct red card.

Reduced to ten, Hütter reorganized his team by making two changes with the entry of Embolo and Diatta in place of Minamino and Ilenikhena (64th). Changes which do not disrupt the scenario of a match which is struggling to get carried away.

The last big alert took place in the 90th minute with a huge save from Lucas Chevalier, who saved Lille from a strike from Denis Zakaria. Monaco has just let its last chance of the evening slip away.

Like Lens (1-1), which was the first to slow down the Monegasques at the beginning of September, Lille carried out the same operation (0-0). Imperial since the start of the season, Monaco has so far only lost its feathers at the Louis-II stadium.

Before meeting its favorite enemy, OGC Nice in ten days, Monaco returns to the European scene on Tuesday with the reception of Red Star Belgrade. Lille will play the next day, in Spain against Antoine Griezmann’s Atlético Madrid. A great poster before the reunion with the Lensois for the Northern derby, Saturday evening.
