The Águilas del Zulia announced this Friday the hiring of the pitcher Christian Capuanowho will join the rapacious team to solidify the starting staff. The American already has a ticket and is expected to arrive in Venezuela in the coming days.
Capuano, 27 years old, is a tall pitcher standing 1.93 meters tall. He has a peculiarity: he never signed with a Major League Baseball team and his professional career is exclusively in circuits outside the control of MLB.
The new foreigner of the Águilas played in the last three years in the Atlantic League, one of the highest level independent competitions. In 2024 he left a 4.53 ERA with a record of 10 wins, just three losses and 104 strikeouts during the 101.1 innings he worked with the Staten Island FerryHawks.
Christian Capuano shared equipment with Pablo Sandoval, but also with Luis Castroso the Eagles surely had a detailed report on the slugger.
NATO PUNCHER
There is little information about the new pitcher signed by the Raptors. Since he has not participated in the Minor Leagues, there is no data on the type of pitches or strength, however, the statistics do confirm his ability to avoid wood.
Between his time in college baseball and independent levels, Capuano averages 10.0 strikeouts per nine innings. That’s an excellent average for any pitcher, especially one whose job has typically been as a starter.
