Miranda’s Emotional Comeback: Scoring in Series B After Leaving Vasco

Amazonas beat Avaí 2-1, in a comeback, this Friday, at Arena da Amazônia, in the 32nd round of the Brazilian Series B. The winning goal was scored by defender Miranda, who is playing his first season with the Amazonas shirt. Former Vasco defender until January this year, the 24-year-old defender was emotional and said he was playing his best football again.

Yes, as I have been talking to my companions. My moment has arrived. I think now I’m experiencing my best phase in football again. I’m enjoying it. Man, I’m so happy. Amazonas hugged me here, man. And I am very grateful for everything that Amazonas has done in my life. And I’m enjoying this moment.”

— Miranda, Amazonas defender

Miranda didn’t just score the winning goal. He also passed to Sassá on the right, which resulted in Cocote’s goal after a cross. Regarding this “attacking” side, the defender recalled his time as a youth player for the Brazilian national team, when he played on the wing.

– In this three-way game with the full-back, when I stay more to the right there, I have more freedom to carry the ball, right, to find more passes. So that’s where I feel most comfortable, you know, I can find passes inside, outside and make the shot that leads to the goal. And there, man… I’m very happy, man, dammit, dammit, I feel so relieved. I feel like before I lived wrongly, I think my life was also living wrongly. Now I found myself. As I said before, I found myself. Thank you very much for Amazonas, for my family, I want to continue, that’s it, that’s it – he added.
