Barcelona, Oct 19 (EFE).- The director of the football area of FC Barcelona, Anderson da Souza ‘Deco’, has assured during the members’ assembly that the figure of Hansi Flick has given confidence to the entity “to make important decisions ” about the template.
“The coach is a main part in this process. From the sports management, we have always believed that despite not winning titles, we had a good base and that we had to make entry and exit decisions,” said Deco.
The director of Barça’s football department has commented that he wanted to see the reserve team players and make decisions in this regard. “We knew what we had at the base and we needed courage and for the coach to believe it. Hansi gives us this. In addition to believing, we have to do it and the coach is a main part of this process,” he insisted.
Deco has broken down the entry and exit plan carried out. Regarding the loans, he has spoken about those of Oriol Romeu (Girona) and Clement Lenglet (Atlético Madrid), who wanted “more minutes” of play.
Also the need to accumulate more minutes of play by Vitor Roque (Betis), a young man in whom Barcelona believes in value, something that also happens in the case of Álex Valle (Celtic Glasgow).
Regarding the transfers, Deco has commented on those of Sergiño Dest, Julián Araujo, Mika Faye (with a buyback option), Ilkay Gundogan, Chadi Riad, Marc Guiu (whom Barça tried to keep) and Estanis Pedrola (the club has half of their rights).
He has also spoken about the end of Sergi Roberto’s contract and the transfers of Joao Félix, Joao Cancelo and Marcos Alonso, about which Deco has regretted the multiple accumulated injuries.
Regarding the signings, Deco revealed that Dani Olmo was a player with a profile that Barcelona lacked. “We have many high-level midfielders, but (Olmo) gives us more different solutions to what we had and it was key (to sign him),” he said.
He has also referred to the trust in Pau Víctor; He commented that the arrival of goalkeeper Szczesny was only due to Ter Stegen’s injury, and he described the returns of Pablo Torre and Eric García (both on loan to Girona last year) as good news.
Deco has also commented on the return of Ansu Fati, after a loan to Brighton. “He is very young, he is the club’s assets and we want to make every effort to recover him,” he insisted.
The director of Barça professional football has welcomed the integration of youth football players into the first team, as in the cases of Pau Cubarsí, Lamine Yamal, Fermín López, Marc Casadó, Marc Bernal, Héctor Fort, Gerard Martín, Sergi Domínguez and Ander Astralaga.
As a summary, Deco has stressed that the value of the Barça squad, according to the ‘Transfermarkt’ portal, reaches 944 million (200 million more than in the 21-22 season) and that its average age is 24 years.
“We have a squad with a present and a future. Our objective is for the players to have a salary based on meritocracy and to get bonuses for titles,” he said.
