October 18, 2024: Lung contusion! Sixers professional is out
Bad news for the Philadelphia 76ers: Jared McCain has suffered a bruised lung. The shooting guard will not be used in the last preseason game against the Orlando Magic. However, a concussion could not be diagnosed.
The shocking moment came with the 117:95 triumph over the Brooklyn Nets. In the fourth quarter, McCain lost his balance in the air and hit his back on the ground.
The rookie is said to have subsequently complained of breathing problems and was treated in hospital before being released on Thursday.

Since the two-time NBA Finals MVP is already considered very injury-prone, the Clippers will continue to not take any risks during his rehab.

October 17, 2024: OKC without Isaiah Hartenstein for several weeks
Oklahoma City Thunder will be without center and rebound specialist Isaiah Hartenstein for a long time. According to “ESPN”, the German suffered a small fracture in his left hand in the preseason game against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday – the downtime is probably five to six weeks. Hartenstein will therefore miss the start of the season at least once, also against the Nuggets.

The Oklahoma City Thunder obviously have high hopes for their lottery pick Nikola Topic. OKC selected the 18-year-old Serbian guard with the 12th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. And this despite the fact that it was already clear before the talent selection that Topic would miss the entire 2024/25 season with a torn cruciate ligament.
Nikola Topic suffered a left cruciate ligament injury in January shortly after his move from Mega MIS to Red Star Belgrade and missed four months of the Adriatic League. He returned in late April and played three games before re-injuring his knee in Game 1 of the Adriatic League playoff finals. The Thunder will be patient with their top pick. According to consistent reports, no permanent damage is expected.
June 18, 2024: Celtics have to do without Porzingis again
Kristaps Porzingis was missing from the Boston Celtics in the recent NBA playoffs for more than five weeks because he was suffering from a calf injury. In game one of the finals against the Dallas Mavericks, the Latvian celebrated his comeback – and was convincing across the board.
Just one game later, the next piece of bad news came: the 28-year-old was injured again and was out for several months as a result.
As the Celtics announced, Porzingis had to go under the knife. He underwent surgery on his leg to repair a torn ligament and a dislocated tendon in the posterior tibial muscle.
The European will be out for around five to six months – and will therefore also miss the start of the new NBA season, which begins in October.
