Kane show in a 4-0 win: Bayern dominates Stuttgart with hat-trick hero

FC Bayern Munich celebrates a convincing 4-0 (0-0) home win against VfB Stuttgart. Harry Kane (57th, 60th, 80th) is the outstanding man on the pitch with a hat trick. Kingsley Coman (89th) brings the final point. After a goalless first half, the record champions turned up the heat after the break and gave the guests no chance.

FC Bayern welcomed VfB Stuttgart to the Allianz Arena on matchday 7 of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season. The Munich team, who had only played a draw in their last two league games, wanted to get back on the road to success against last year’s runner-up. FCB coach Vincent Kompany still had to do without the injured Jamal Musiala, while Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß surprised with a defensive line-up and initially left top performers like Enzo Millot on the bench.

First half: balanced start

The game began with an early setback for Bayern when Aleksandar Pavlović had to be replaced by João Palhinha due to injury in the 8th minute. Despite dominating possession of the ball (63 percent), the Munich team initially found no gap in Stuttgart’s well-organized defense.

Harry Kane had his best chance so far in the 31st minute when he headed just wide of the goal from a cross from Raphaël Guerreiro. The guests concentrated on defense and rarely made relief attacks. It went into the half-time break goalless, with Bayern being the more active team with 6 shots on goal to 2.

After the break, Bayern increased the pressure. In the 51st minute, Kane had a great chance to take the lead when, after work from Serge Gnabry and Michael Olise, he failed to hit the ball properly from close range. But just a few minutes later (57th), the Englishman did better: After a pass from Joshua Kimmich, Kane shot from around 30 meters and hit the left corner with a low shot – a world-class goal.

Just three minutes later (60th), the FCB goalscorer followed up when he held his own against several Stuttgart players in the penalty area and scored from close range. The guests now had little to counter Munich’s offensive drive.

In the 80th minute, Kane crowned his outstanding performance with a hat trick. After João Palhinha’s shot was blocked, the striker reacted quickly and made it 3-0. It was his eighth goal of the season in his seventh Bundesliga game. Kingsley Coman made it 4-0 in the 89th minute after being served by Thomas Müller.

The statistics underline Bayern’s dominance: 22 to 4 shots on goal, 4.1 to 0.45 xGoals and 90 percent passing accuracy speak for themselves. For VfB Stuttgart, this ended a series of 22 Bundesliga games with at least one goal scored.
