Bravos would soon have Edward Olivares

The Venezuelan outfielder belonging to the Margarita Braves, Edward Olivares, is expected by the island team for next week. This was reported by sports manager José Manuel Fernández in La Barra Brava Podcast.

“We are very advanced with his incorporation and participation in the team,” said the island executive in the program broadcast on Friday through the Bravos de Margarita YouTube channel. “Our plan is for it to premiere in this third week.”

Let us remember that Olivares; 28 years old, he came to Bravos last season from the Tigres de Aragua along with Osmer Morales and Wilson Ramos. That, in the change that sent Thairo Estrada and pitchers Pedro Ávila and Luis Rijo to the Bengali team.

Now, in his debut campaign with the island troop, the man from Caracas averaged .341 in 23 games in which he accumulated 31 hits in 91 at-bats. In addition to this, he hit seven doubles, two triples and a home run. He drove in 13 runs, scored 21 and collected five stolen bases in as many attempts and a .900 OPS in 101 plate appearances.

Likewise, he played 55 games with the Pittsburgh Pirates; organization that obtained him via trade from the Kansas City Royals. However, he was placed on assignment and sent to Triple-A in early August, where he finished the season before being able to declare himself a free agent.
