Score/missed broadcast

The lead to victory, which everyone had worked together to pull together, was let go with just five minutes remaining.

The Queen Bees were not able to show their full potential in the match against Tokyo Haneda and suffered consecutive losses. In an interview a few days before the match against Mitsubishi Electric, captain Momoko Inoue said, “Everyone has already made the switch,” but with some trepidation, the Fuji Hokuroku Gymnasium was filled with cheers of support for the Queen Bees. , the game will be a toss-up at 2 p.m.

Queen Bees took the lead early in the first quarter, but Mitsubishi Electric followed closely. There were times when they lost the lead, but substitutes Seika Miyoshi and Rinami Nakazawa tenaciously connected, and the first quarter ended with a narrow margin of 16-15.

In the second quarter, they were up by nine points, 24-33, with 3 minutes and 27 seconds left. However, Honoka Tsuchida made a bold drive and scored consecutive points, and Nakazawa followed suit, bringing the lead to two points and ending the first half at 34-36. The second half gave them hope.

The start of the second half is an important phase that determines victory or defeat. As head coach Sachiko Ishikawa said after the game, “We were able to adjust our offense and defense to a certain extent,” the Queenbees were able to hold back and attack their opponents. There were times when the score difference was temporarily widened, but the Queen Bees caught up again by not overlooking Mitsubishi Electric’s mistakes and fouls, and ended the third quarter with a narrow margin of 50-51. With 10 minutes remaining, they are hoping for their first win of the season.

Early in the fourth quarter, Ayana Nakayama and Mina Kaminaga made consecutive three-pointers, and the Queen Bees led 56-51 with 8 minutes and 58 seconds left. Mitsubishi Electric also showed some sloppy play, giving them a great chance to take control of the momentum. However, the Queenbees stopped scoring at this point, and neither team scored for about three minutes.

The turning point in the match was the score of Mitsubishi Electric’s veteran Haruno Nemoto and Yuka Kosuge, who won a close battle last season. When they tied the score with 5 minutes and 27 seconds remaining, Mitsubishi Electric regained their composure, while Queen Bees began to show signs of impatience. Queenby’s play was erratic due to impatience and they succumbed to pressure from their defense. They were unable to increase their points and gradually widened their lead, ending the game at 60-68. Unfortunately, he almost missed out on his first win of the season.

Surely a loss is a loss.

However, the uneasy expressions that appeared on the five players’ faces throughout the match against Tokyo Haneda have disappeared, and the Queen Bees’ typical revelry on the bench is returning.
35 minutes with everyone. And then the remaining 5 minutes.
He struggled on defense and did well on rebounds and loose balls. However, the several pass errors that appeared throughout the game and the delay in reacting to rebounds and loose balls may have affected the offense and defense in the remaining five minutes, leading to the final result.

“We don’t have any outstanding superstars, nor do we have many big players. However, we want to prove that we can become a strong team if each of us cooperates and works together. Especially like in today’s match, we want to show how we can play as a team against a team that is superior to us in terms of ability and size,” Momoko Inoue said emphatically of her team’s goals.

Head coach/player talk

Sachiko Ishikawa Head Coach

Up until the third quarter, we were able to make some adjustments to our offense and defense, but in the final four quarters, we didn’t put pressure on them and we didn’t follow the team rules thoroughly, which led to us giving up points. It’s gone. I’m very disappointed that I wasn’t thorough enough at the very end.
Although our strategy to limit the mobility of our opponent’s offense was somewhat successful, today’s major issue was our sluggishness in scoring from breaks and set plays.
In tomorrow’s match, we will apply the lessons we learned from today and continue to attack throughout the 40 minutes. Especially in the fourth quarter, we had a hard time getting the ball around and were overwhelmed by the pressure from our opponents, so we want to make sure we fix that.
We received great support from our fans in the opening game at home, but it is unfortunate that we were not able to repay that support. I want to win well tomorrow and share the joy with everyone.

Captain Momoko Inoue

As for today’s match, I think the entire team was able to compete well. The changes we had made since the opening match worked well, and we were able to advance in good shape until the middle of the fourth period. However, our mistakes stood out against the opponent’s competitive strength and accuracy of shots, and we lost because we were unable to coordinate our plays. I learned a lot from the match, so I’d like to watch the video again and make adjustments before going into the next match. The league match is not over yet, so we will do our best to win tomorrow’s match.

However, as I told everyone in the final circle, a loss is a loss, whether it’s by one point or by a large margin.

However, even though we lost, I feel that we were able to fight for the next match. There were areas where I felt we had improved compared to the last match, and we want to continue to fight even more hungrily for victory.

This season has only just begun, and we are still in a good position to win the championship. We still have four games left against Mitsubishi Electric, so we will make adjustments and try to win them all.

Honoka Tsuchida

It was good that we were able to attack aggressively in the second quarter, but as a whole we prioritized passing and were blocked by the opponent’s defense, which made it difficult for us to pass and we lost our rhythm. As a result, our confusion led to turnovers, and there were times when we allowed our opponents to score. I think my play stopped because I backed off a little and couldn’t see my surroundings. Tomorrow, I want to play with the goal of speeding up our passing, smoothing the flow of our offense, and continuing to shoot from the beginning to the end of the game.

Ayana Nakayama

I think the good thing about it was that everyone was actively applying pressure, so we were able to make good breaks. With this flow, our opponent did not take the initiative, and although the match turned into a see-saw game, we were able to hang on. However, our defense was a bit lax at the end and our opponent made the decision, so I think that will be an issue for us tomorrow.

I was able to take the shot not because of my own movements, but because of the plays created by those around me, so I thought it was my role to make the decision and took responsibility for the shot. We have to increase the probability even more. In the end, there were times when I missed a shot even though the players around me were trying to create a good shape, so I want to make sure I make the right decisions tomorrow.

In the first and second games, we were more likely to let go of our opponents and chase after them than we did today, but compared to that, I think everyone was able to play with a lot of spirit today.

In today’s game, we didn’t lose that much, so I think we played well. Fundamental aspects like playing with more courage, chasing the ball until the end, and rebounding have a big impact on the outcome of a game, so we will keep that in mind as we play tomorrow’s match.

Aika Watanabe

Although there were some weak points, the result was a loss. I felt that Mitsubishi’s opponent had better decision-making ability in the critical moments. However, I am reflecting on the fact that the main reasons why we lost control of the match were our own mistakes and the breakdown of our defense, which should have been defended by everyone. In the first half, we were actively aiming for shots, but in the second half, we were unable to connect with the ball at key points. I think I should have been more actively involved here.

Today was my first home game in my hometown, and I felt nostalgic and was really happy to see so many people in attendance. We don’t have many opportunities to play matches in our hometown this year, so we want to win tomorrow and show that to everyone who is rooting for us.
Today, even though things were going badly, we were able to get back on our feet as a team.
