The next low point for a once celebrated world champion: the top Italian club Juventus Turin no longer has any use for Paul Pogba.
Actually, it seemed like Paul Pogba was just starting to look up again. The 31-year-old Frenchman’s doping ban was shortened from four years to 18 months at the beginning of October. Pogba will be allowed to play again in March after being tested with high testosterone levels in August following a Serie A match between Juventus and Udinese Calcio. However, probably not for Juve as he planned.
Before the 1-0 win in the league against Lazio Rome, Cristiano Giuntoli, the technical director of Juventus, announced the exit of the 2018 world champion on DAZN: “Pogba was a great player, but now we have other plans. We have different plans Players invested and our team is now complete.”
Pogba recently spoke about his comeback to Juventus in an interview with “Gazzetta dello Sport”. “I want to be ready to train and play with Juve, I am a Juve player, in my head at the moment there is only that,” he said – and promised: “It will be a new Pogba, hungrier, wiser and stronger . I only have one wish, to play football.” The midfield strategist would even have agreed to financial losses for his return: “I’m willing to give up money in order to still be able to play at Juve, I want to return to this club.”
According to Giuntoli’s clear words, Pogba will probably not return in the Juventus jersey. After 190 games and 34 goals it’s over. The Frenchman’s contract with the Italians runs until 2026.
