Feyenoord shows good football and wins big against Go Ahead Eagles

Feyenoord showed on Saturday evening that there is indeed enough quality in the team. Brian Priske‘s team won very convincingly against Go Ahead Eagles and the score ended 1-5. Almost all the goals were spectacular, but the coach will be especially enthusiastic about the fourth team goal.

Priske surprised in his line-up by fielding Gernot Trauner at the kick-off. The experienced defender has had a good international match, but it remained doubtful whether he would be preferred over Thomas Beelen. The Austrian has received plenty of compliments on social media after his performance tonight. From the kick-off it quickly became clear how much peace Trauner brought to the team.

Trauner’s calm ensured that Feyenoord was quickly able to play football under the pressure of Go Ahead Eagles. After fifteen minutes of play this resulted in a fully justified lead. Ibrahim Osman, who played a very strong match, accelerated past the home team’s defense and rammed the ball mercilessly into the net. The lead gave Priske’s team so much confidence that the football continued to improve and so the ball was soon against the ropes for a second time.

The second goal came from the feet of Antoni Milambo. Due to an error in the build-up, he was able to win the ball and the talented midfielder then remained very calm, after which he easily slid the ball into the goal via the inside of the post. Feyenoord remained the dominant team in the remaining twenty minutes of the first half and managed to expand the score even further. As Quinten Timber did often this match, he intercepted a ball in midfield. After a short run, the captain decided to take a swing himself and with success: 0-3 halfway through the game.

In the first matches of this season it was always a matter of waiting to see how Feyenoord came out of the dressing room after the break, but that also seems to have gone well after the matches against Girona FC and FC Twente. On Saturday evening, the Rotterdam team also experienced a very easy second part and they could play football with confidence in the run-up to the clash with SL Benfica.

After almost an hour of play, the match was finally closed by Feyenoord. A beautiful attack that started in the last line ended with a simple tap by Ueda, after which the striker was able to easily tap the ball past the keeper. Another great moment took place in the final phase of the match. Julián Carranza was able to easily finish a tight cross from In-Beom Hwang and thus scored his first goal for the Rotterdam team. The goal of honor came two minutes later and was credited to Edvardsen.
