The hosting quota was then given to Inter Miami after Lionel Messi et al. won the MLS regular season. In the process, Inter Miami also broke the points record in MLS.

Inter Miami’s qualification was announced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino directly after Inter Miami won 6-2 over the New England Revolution at Chase Stadium, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sunday (20/10/2024) morning WIB.

“Miami loves football, the world loves football, and the world loves Miami. So there are three things I want to say,” said Infantino in a speech on the pitch, as reported by AS.

“First: congratulations on winning the Supporters’ Shield. And adding a points record in Major League Soccer. Congratulations! You are the best team this season in America.”

“Second: based on your outstanding performances this year, you deserve, and will, qualify for the 2025 Club World Cup.”

“Third: as the host team for the 2025 Club World Cup, you will have the honor of opening the tournament, holding the opening match here in Miami at Hard Rock Stadium in front of 65,000 spectators and millions at home,” he said.
