Making the places you pass through every day more beautiful. On the occasion of the Godo Festival, in recent days, a mural was inaugurated that some artists from Russi‘s “Artej – Ritagli d’arte” association created in the underpass of the Godo station, on the Ravenna-Castel Bolognese line. Walter Reggiani, Claudio Dumini, Bruno Retini, Roberto Marchini and Gabriella Muccini participated in the creation, which took about two months, with the collaboration of Annamaria Silvagni and Stellina Conti.
The images depicted in the wall paintings symbolically represent the traditions of Godo, with particular reference to the Palio, which involves the local villages and embodies the spirit of community. There is also space for sporting references with a tribute to the long tradition of baseball, cycling and football that animate the life of the town. And there are also references to the marine world, with the depiction of planet Earth emerging from the breath of a whale, indicating the origin of our life.
Plays of bright colours, among which red and blue stand out, the distinctive colors of Godo’s sports teams, blend with the geometric shapes to evoke the dynamism of the underpass and attract the traveller’s gaze.
Finally, the typical elements of the railway station are depicted: the suitcase, the stationmaster’s cap, the ticket, the paddle and the whistle, in memory of the arrival of the first train in Godo in 1863, an event which marked the beginning of a new it was about connection and development for the community.
This mural, created with the collaboration of the Italian railway network company, follows the one created five years ago in the underpass of the Russi station. “The Artej Association – explains the President Walter Reggiani – has enthusiastically joined the project, since we believe that the street -art is an excellent way to fight the degradation and abandonment of certain realities”.
