Judo: Jean-Claude Djimbi close to Tokyo

The Gabonese international judo referee, Me Jean-Claude Djimbi, recently took part in the Grand Slam in Paris.

At the end of this major competition, our compatriot, the only African referee still in the race for qualification for the next Tokyo Olympic Games, grabbed three precious places in the world rankings. Ranked 22nd in the world before the Paris competition, our compatriot now occupies 19th place in the Olympic referee rankings. Only three places left to be in the Top 16 of referees who will officiate in Tokyo.

Three months before the end of the qualifications, next May, Me Djimbi reiterates his appeal to the Ministry of Sports, in order to support him in the last qualifying turn.

“The Minister of Sports was in Paris to encourage the Gabonese judokas present at the Grand Slam in Paris. He had the privilege of seeing officiate. For my part, I think he understood well that only support for athletes and also for the referee that I am, can allow us to validly represent our country in Tokyo”he concluded.
