Michoacán: New Epicenter of Judo in Mexico Thanks to the National Tournament

Morelia, Michoacán, October 19, 2024 – Michoacán has established itself as a fundamental pillar for judo in Mexico, by hosting the prestigious Prof. Daniel F. Hernández National Judo Tournament at the Morelia Convention and Exhibition Center (Ceconexpo). Lilian Estrada Bautista, president of the Mexican Judo Federation, highlighted the excellence of the venue, not only for its first-class infrastructure, but also for the hospitality of its people.

Estrada Bautista expressed his gratitude to the State Government, and in particular to Grisel Tello Pimentel, honorary president of the Board of Trustees of the DIF Michoacán System, for the warm welcome given to the more than 700 competitors from 28 judo associations throughout the country.

Adrián Lizárraga Mora, refereeing coordinator of the federation, also praised Michoacán for providing optimal conditions for the development of the event. These facilities have allowed the referees to carry out their work efficiently, thus guaranteeing a high competitive level.

The tournament, which offers free entry to the public, takes place at the Ceconexpo in Morelia and will conclude on Sunday, October 20 with the senior categories. This event not only highlights Michoacán’s organizational capacity, but also strengthens its position as the leading venue for judo in Mexico.
