The Centre-Val de Loire region will host the Adult and Youth championship from July 12 to 17. In total, no less than 719 archers will meet throughout the week in St-Avertin to try to win a French champion title.

The Adult Championship to start the competition

424 archers (248 in recurve bow, 152 in compound bow and 24 in bare bow) will take part in this competition. It will begin on Friday July 12 with the first start for the national distance and the Senior 1 and Senior 3 categories in recurve arch, as well as in compound arch for Senior 1 women and Senior 3 men, and all participants in bare arch. The first podiums of the weekend will follow the same evening, since the ranking of the national distance discipline is based on qualifying shots. The next day, other archers will take their place on the shooting range with, still at national distance, the Senior 1 men and Senior 3 women in compound arches, as well as all the Senior 2s in recurve and compound arches in the morning .

In classic arch, Julien Piece (Laigne St Gervais in Belin), Jean-Marie Larrazet (Azure) and Marie-Christine Delannoy (Brive la Gaillarde) will put their title back on the line. Likewise for Nora Saintalbin (the Pilotine Arrow), Yvette Corniaux (Volgelsheim) et Michel Portman (Issoudun) in compound arch.

On Saturday afternoon, it’s time for the international distance, with the qualifying shots for the Senior 2 recurve and compound bows, as well as the Senior 1 and 3 women’s compound bows. On Sunday, the remaining categories (Senior 1 and 3 recurve as well as Senior 1 and 3 compound men) will shoot their 72 qualifying arrows, before all participants selected for the elimination rounds compete in their matches.

Is the current French compound arch champion, the local Laurie Lecointrewill keep her title or will she have to give up her place? We will also follow the course of the 2023 champions Valentin Gosset (Chauny), Paul Phillit (Roanne), Romain Braun (Offranville), Alexandra Jobert (Carquefou) or even Jacques Bertrand (Saint-Valery en Caux) who will be among the archers present.
