The Colchoneros are third after their stunning victory against Leganes this Sunday, during the 10th day of the Spanish championship.
Trailing 1-0 at the hour mark, Atlético Madrid ended up overthrowing their neighbor Leganés on Sunday (3-1) thanks to a goal from French striker Antoine Griezmann and a double from Norwegian Alexander Sorloth in the tenth La Liga day.
Long sluggish and without ideas, Atlético (3rd in the standings, 20 points) can thank “Grizou”, present in the area to cut a cross from Giuliano Simeone a few minutes from time (81st, 2-1), before Sorloth a double at the end of added time (90th + 9, 3-1) to complete a significant success for the Colchoneros, three days before receiving Lille in the Champions League.
Lenglet affected
In a Metropolitano stadium behind closed doors for the throwing of projectiles which caused the interruption of the Madrid derby against Real (1-1), the rojiblanco club was surprised in the first half by conceding the opening of the score from former Saint-Etienne player Yvan Neyou (34th, 1-0), but ended up returning to the game in the second half thanks to a nice backheel from Sorloth (69th, 1-1).
Antoine Griezmann, decisive again, thought he would be sent off for a poorly controlled tackle but the referee decided to transform his red card into a yellow card after viewing the video (89th). His ex-teammate in the French team, central defender Clément Lenglet, who arrived this summer at Atlético, left the pitch visibly injured in the knee after an unfortunate contact with a partner, the Belgian Axel Witsel (65th).
