National Judo Tournament Concludes Professor Daniel F. Hernández – Tiempo de Michoacán

*Morelia, Michoacán October 20, 2024.-* Michoacán won 35 medals, of which 19 by girls, boys and young people who are in residential care of the DIF Michoacán System, in the National Judo Tournament Professor Daniel F. Hernández 2024, which was held for the first time in the state capital and had the participation of more than 700 exponents from the country.

During the closing ceremony, the honorary president of the Board of Trustees of the DIF Michoacán System, Grisel Tello Pimentel, thanked the president of the Mexican Judo Federation, Lilian Estrada Bautista, for the trust to develop said tournament for the first time in Michoacán, in addition, be the headquarters of such an important sporting event again next year.

«I congratulate the athletes and parents for having attended this tournament, they are all winners. We are happy to have received you in Michoacán and that you return home safely. We hope to see you soon,” said Tello Pimentel.

For their part, the general director of the state organization, Óscar Celis Silva, and the director of Michoacan sports, Raúl Morón Vidal, recalled that the tournament began on Thursday, October 17 with the weighing of the judokas and the fights began. on October 18, where more than 700 participants from 28 associations in the country attended, among them, 32 girls, boys and adolescents in residential care of the DIF Michoacán System.

On the third and last day of activity, the gold medals obtained by Michoacans Elizabeth García Malfavón and Emil Montes de Oca stood out, in 70 and 66 kilograms, respectively. Both in the Senior category.

It should be noted that the tournament was organized by the DIF Michoacán System, the State Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (Cecufid), as well as the federation and association of the specialty, in which the participants competed in the Sub-13, Sub- 15, Sub-18, Sub-21 and Senior, which were counted towards the national ranking.
