Verburch Football Benefit Evening raises more than €100,000 for club recovery

The action was organized after a fraudulent board member embezzled more than €130,000 from the club. Thanks to the support of the supporters’ association and the efforts of the local community, the financial blow now appears to have been partially absorbed.

The benefit evening took place in the Verburch sports hall, where visitors could join for €100 per seat. With an attendance of 350 people, the hall was full. The evening was led by auctioneer Alphons de Wit, who auctioned, among other things, a signed shirt by Johan Neeskens and a private barbecue. The highlight of the evening was De Wit’s red suit, which he had changed hands live for an amount of €1,500.

Football chairman Hans Mieog concluded the evening with a word of thanks: “This shows that the Poeldijkers support the club and will not be discouraged by setbacks.”
