After 90 minutes of fierce battle, both teams went into overtime. After 105 minutes of play, still no winner. La Tamponnaise and AS Excelsior always neutralized each other in this final of the Réunion Cup.
After 120 minutes of battle, La Tamponnaise and AS Excelsior faced off on penalties.
The final of the Réunion Cup ended in favor of Excelsior with a score of 5-4, thus winning an intense match that was fought until the end.

Last year, it was Saint-Pierroise which lifted the title. But the champion team was beaten by the Tamponnaise on September 8 at the Georges Lambrakis stadium, after extra time.
For its part, AS Excelsior won against Saint-Denis FC in extra time at the Michel Volnay stadium.
