Boston therefore opted to preserve a minimum of flexibility at the beginning of the season, giving up a good player, who probably would have seen little of the pitch. It’s possible that Brad Stevens could test the free agent market for a later long rotationwith Kristaps Porzingis out until December-January.
Boston chose not to even offer a two-way contract to Lonnie Walker IV, something the player had said he was willing to do. The former Spurs player is therefore back as a free agent and will have the opportunity to sign elsewhere during the ongoing NBA season.
