Anthony Edwards (23, Minnesota Timberwolves), who briefly summoned Michael Jordan during the 2023-24 NBA playoffs, made an absurd statement.

ESPN, an American sports channel, reported on the 21st (Korean time) that Edwards expressed his intention to play in the National Football League (NFL) if he wins a championship in the next three to four years.

It’s unclear whether Edwards is seriously considering a move from the NBA to the NFL. However, since it is a statement from a young star who is entering his 5th year, it is drawing great attention.

However, while Edwards rose to stardom in the last playoffs, he also exposed his limitations. First of all, Edwards received a lot of attention with his good performance in the first and second rounds.

He scored an average of 31 points in the first round against the Phoenix Suns, and led the team to victory with amazing performance in the second round against the ‘defending champion’ Denver Nuggets.

However, he did not perform well in the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, and people said he reminded them of Michael Jordan.

Also, given Edwards’ current skills, it is likely that he will receive a supermax contract. If you win a championship within the next 3 to 4 years and then go to the NFL, you will lose hundreds of billions of won.

The 2024-25 NBA season, which will be Edwards’ fifth season, opens on the 23rd. Edwards’ Minnesota will play its first game against the LA Lakers on the 23rd.

Edwards even summoned Jordan briefly last season. Attention is being paid to whether Edwards, who attracted attention with his absurd remarks before the opening game, will be able to play basketball for a little longer this season.
