The new indoor season starts in the 1st Men’s Fistball Bundesliga, with a new game mode for the first time. Three teams from the region are there, and on the first matchday there is a direct duel between TV Stammheim and TV Vaihingen/Enz. For the hockey women from HC Ludwigsburg, the move to the roof is still imminent; they have their last games of the field round on the program this weekend. Badminton | SG Schorndorf with its last home game for four months
So far things are simply not going well for SG Schorndorf in the 1st Badminton Bundesliga. The Daimlerstadt team lost their first three appearances of the season – all home games – 0:7. The next big chunk awaits the SGS at the weekend: Then the eleven-time German champions 1. BC Bischmisheim will be a guest in Schorndorf. It is the team’s last home game before seven away appearances in a row. Only in four months, on February 22, 2025, will the SGS Bundesliga team be seen again in the local Karl Wahl sports hall.

Basketball | European Cup top game for the RIESEN
In the Bundesliga, the basketball players from MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg returned on Saturday with a 91:62 win against Göttingen. And in international business things are going well for the Baroque townsmen so far: the two previous group games in the FIBA Europe Cup clearly went to the MHP RIESEN. There is another team in Group H of the European Cup (JDA Dijon) that has two wins from two games so far. The two clubs will now face each other in a direct duel on Wednesday.

Basketball | Knights welcome Dresden to the EWS Arena
Normally the home venue of the Bozic Estriche Knights Kirchheim is the Stadtmitte sports hall in Kirchheim/Teck. For certain games, the basketball players from VfL Kirchheim/Teck move a few kilometers further and welcome their opponents in the much larger EWS Arena in Göppingen. The Knights, who belong to the top group of the second division with four wins from five games this season, are facing another such performance on Saturday. This time the Dresden Titans are guests.

Ice hockey | Steelers in the classic against the Falcons
When the Bietigheim Steelers and the Heilbronner Falken face each other on the ice, it’s always exciting. For years, this pairing was one of the most competitive local duels in the second ice hockey league. Both teams have now arrived in the third-tier Oberliga Süd, but the rivalry between the two clubs and the fan camps has not diminished. On Friday the Württemberg ice hockey classic will take place for the first time in the new league.

Fistball | New game mode in the men’s Bundesliga
After the promotion of the two Stuttgart clubs NLV Vaihingen and TV Stammheim, there are now three clubs from the region in the 1st Fistball Bundesliga South; Third in the league is the long-standing first division team TV Vaihingen/Enz. The trio has to adapt to a new game mode, which is being used for the first time in the upper house: The nine teams play a single round, then the best six in the table go into a play-off round, the bottom three play in the play-off round. fencing | Saber tournament in Künzelsau, foil in Bad Cannstatt
Two fencing tournaments of very different stripes can be seen this weekend in the greater Stuttgart area. At the International Würth Cup in Künzelsau, the duelists compete on the saber. First there is a U-20 tournament and the next day there is the competition for the active class. At the foil tournament for the Adolf Ermer plaque in Stuttgart, foil is used. The first day of the competition belongs to the male U20 starters, and on the second day of the competition their female peers take part.

Handball | TVB has to deal with the master
With just one win from eight games this season, handball Bundesliga team TVB Stuttgart has so far fallen short of expectations. For the next home game, a really big chunk is coming to the Porsche Arena: The Stuttgart handball players will face SC Magdeburg on Sunday, who won the championship and cup double last season. The other two first division teams from the Stuttgart region are also in the bottom third of the table: newly promoted Bietigheim is 13th, Göppingen follows directly behind in 14th place.

Hockey | Last field round appearances for HCL women for now
For the women’s hockey team from HC Ludwigsburg, the last two games in the 2nd Field Hockey Bundesliga South are coming up. For the time being, because the field round is not completed at the end of October, but is only interrupted – in April we will move on to the second half of the season with the current standings, and indoor hockey will be played until then. With two wins at the weekend, the HCL women, who are currently in third place in the table, can once again improve their starting position for the second half of the season.
