In Formula 1, starting next season, a bonus point will not be awarded to the driver for the fastest lap in the Grand Prix. The representatives of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) informed about the upcoming cancellation of the rule before the upcoming Grand Prix in Austin.

An additional point has been awarded in the World Championship series since 2019. The condition for obtaining it is that the author of the fastest lap finishes the race in the top ten. In a packed calendar that counts 24 races this year, an extra point from each Grand Prix can play an important role in the case of an even fight for the title.

Sainz was the first rider from the front to enter the pits. The Ferrari driver put on a hard compound. He returned to the track in fifth place.

“These tires are just not good. I can’t brake, I can’t attack anybody,” Verstappen complained over team radio. He doesn’t like hard rubbers. No wonder, Norris significantly shortens his lead.
