The Tyrolean Badminton Company Championships took place for the first time on Saturday, October 19, 2024 in Nußdorf-Debant. The local badminton club (SV Nußdorf-Debant) organized this tournament in collaboration with the ÖGB/AK Betriebssport Tirol.
16 teams from 11 companies have registered for this tournament to compete for placements in four groups of four in the preliminary round. Two singles and one double were played per match, which decided between victory and defeat. The colorful mix of club and hobby players also made this tournament format particularly attractive. As usual, Karl and Tomi ensured that this event ran smoothly, this time with the support of our young players Leonie and Tobias.
The two teams from North Tyrol made it to the final:Seiwold Manda” with Kevin and Simon and that “Team Sandoz” with Gery and Daniel. After the singles games the score was 1:1 and the doubles had to decide the victory in the 1st company sports championships. Gery and Daniel from “Team Sandoz” were ultimately able to narrowly prevail against “Seiwold Manda” in three sets; third place was secured by a purely women’s team with Irina and Michaela from the market town of Nußdorf-Debant.
At the award ceremony that followed, the winners were able to look forward to two coveted trophies, and all other participants received nice prizes. After the tournament, we had a lively chat about points and games while eating together.
The positive feedback from many tournament participants calls for a repeat next year, in which hopefully many more companies will take part.
