Rockets extend Sengun’s contract for 5 years and 5 million

Alperen Sengun and the Houston Rockets have agreed to a five-year, $185 million rookie contract extension.


The pivot of the Houston Rockets Alperen Sengun has agreed to a five-year, $185 million rookie contract extensionaccording to what his agents Sean Kennedy and Jeff Schwartz of Excel Basketball told Bobby Marks of ESPN.

The contract includes a player option for the last year.

The agreement occurs before the 6 pm ET deadline for newbie extensions. Sengun becomes the first player in signing an extension of rookie for five years and have a choice of player since Luka Doncic and Trae Young.

Sengun22 years old, became a All-Star candidate last season -and obtained a third place in the voting for Most Improved Player- by average 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5 assists per game for Houston before their season was cut short by a ankle injury. He was one of six players who averaged at least 21, 9 and 5 last season, along with Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and Julius Randle.

Sengun was selected 16th overall in the 2021 NBA draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder.with a selection that originally belonged to Boston Celtics as part of the agreement who sent Kemba Walker to OKC in exchange for Al Horfordbefore immediately being redirected to the Rockets.

Se one to Jalen Greenwho also agreed to a three-year contract for $106 million this Mondayas members of the 2021 class that the Rockets have locked up long-term.
