There were eight red-white-red victories, including two Viennese judoka, at the international youth tournament in Koroska (SLO) at the weekend. Celebrated from a Viennese perspective Luke Angerer (U18 / over 90 kg / Galaxy Judotigers) and Muhammad Koslaev (U16 / up to 42 kilos / Vienna Samurai) class wins. There were also a number of second and third places. Austria’s judoka (8/8/14) clearly prevailed in the medal rankings ahead of the Czech Republic (7/3/7) and North Rhine-Westphalia (GER/4/2/6). State association trainer Lisa Aberger drew a very positive conclusion.
In total, almost 40 young athletes from the Vienna regional association took on a major challenge: They competed in Koroska against more than 700 participants from all over Europe. In a top-class competition, the athletes from Vienna showed remarkable performances and were able to win numerous medals and top placings.
The Viennese team not only shone individually, but also made a decisive contribution to the overall victory of “Team Austria”, which was able to prevail against the competition from other nations. The Austrian team’s victory is a strong sign for young sports in the country and underlines the high level of motivation and talent of the young athletes.
A successful performance for trainer Aberger: “The successful participation in the competition in Koroska marks another milestone for the Vienna regional association and shows the potential of the local young talent in an international comparison.”
In addition to Angerer and Koslaev, Vienna also won the following medals: Silver, U18: Ismael COLAK (bis 50 kg / SU Karuna Vienna), Helin TURK (bis 48 kg / Vienna Samurai). – Bronze, U21: Alexander BLUHME (up to 66 kg / Karuna), Maya KOCHAUF (up to 52 kg / Galaxy). – Bronze, U18: Yann ORNIK (bis 55 kg / Karuna). – Bronze, U16: Maharyta HONCHAR (up to 44 kg) and Helin TÜRK (up to 48 kg / both Samurai). There were also eleven fifth and twelve seventh places for Austrian judoka.
