After ending his successful career as a footballer in 2018 and entering as a technical director, Diego Forlán has decided to take a turn in his sporting life and dedicate himself to professional tennis at 45 years old..
The former Uruguayan striker will play for the first time on the ATP circuitsince he received an invitation from Challenger de Montevideo to play the doubles tournament, where he will partner with the Argentine Federico Coria.
The organization of the contest itself confirmed the participation of Forlán, who has had outstanding performances in several tournaments on the ITF amateur circuit. Without going any further, this year he was a finalist in the individual category of the MT400 in Asunción (Paraguay), reached the semifinals in two other tournaments and, in doubles, he won the MT1000 in Lima.
