It is a disturbing story that occurred last Friday in Olbia, where a man was arrested by the police for persecutory acts against his ex-partner. The episode began near a bar, just outside the city, when the man attacked the woman with kicks and punches, stopping only thanks to the intervention of some passers-by who were approaching the place. The victim, visibly shaken, managed to escape by car, but his attacker’s fury did not stop there. Determined not to let her escape, the man launched a reckless chase through the streets of Olbia, repeatedly attempting to ram the woman’s car and force her off the road.
The situation worsened quickly and, in fear, the woman called 112, desperately asking for help as she continued to be chased. The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile section, who intervened quickly, managed to track down the attacker near a service station on state road 127, just outside the city. The man, in the meantime, had abandoned the chase and attempted to escape towards the town of Olbia. However, his race was interrupted by the military who, during the search of his car, made a chilling discovery: there was a real arsenal in the vehicle.
Inside the attacker’s car, the police found knives, a baseball bat, a bottle of acid and another containing alcohol and petrol. An endowment that leaves little doubt about his intentions: the man seemed ready to carry out a much more violent and potentially lethal attack against his ex-partner. Fortunately, the woman managed to avoid the worst and, despite the shock she suffered, her health conditions are good. The arrested man was immediately transferred to Bancali prison, in Sassari.
