Restoration support project for a dilapidated judo hall 2 – Becoming the place where children gather the most in the area – CAMPFIRE

self-introduction

I am the current manager of a judo dojo with a history of 70 years located in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture. For many years in this area, we have provided not only judo techniques but also mental education to many people, from children to adults.

What I want to achieve with this project

Our goal is to restore the dilapidated Judo building and equip it to meet modern needs. This will allow us to teach judo in a safer and more comfortable environment. We would also like to hold an exercise class for kids that incorporates the passive techniques of judo.

Background of project launch

This judo hall has functioned as the center of the local community for 70 years, but due to years of use and the passage of time, the building has become very dilapidated. Particularly in recent years, concerns about safety have increased, and we cannot afford to leave the current situation as it is. In order for this judo hall to continue to be used by local people for the next 70 years, restoration and improvement are urgently needed.

Past activities and current preparation status

For the past 70 years, we have been promoting the importance of judo halls through local events and judo tournaments. We also consulted with experts and compiled a rough estimate of the design and budget needed for the restoration. We are ready to raise the necessary funds through crowdfunding.

In addition to the healthy upbringing of children, as a new venture, foreigners visiting Maebashi City can experience lessons such as the bow and ukemi of Japan’s “national sport” of judo, and parents and children can participate together. We plan to hold a children’s school and also hold gymnastics classes for elderly people to prevent falls.

We conducted crowdfunding with the same content from June 13, 2020 to August 31, 2020, and thanks to everyone’s cooperation, we were able to raise 900,000 yen. Thank you so much! ! However, we have not received the expected amount, so we will be recruiting again.
