The 2024 World Series already has its protagonists: on the one hand The Los Angeles Dodgers won the National League title by beating the New York Metswhile in the American League the New York Yankees dispatched the Cleveland Guardians to return to a World Series 15 years later.
Both franchises have key players on their rosters who helped them get to this point. Among them there is also a large presence of Latin players, since in total there are 14 Latin American players who will be present in the World Series.
Latinos in the Dodgers
On the Californian franchise’s side, they have six Latinos on their roster. Among them, perhaps the most notable are the Dominican Teoscar Hernández. Who, although he has not had good numbers in the playoffs, is an undisputed player in the Dodgers’ lineup.
Another key player who has had a good postseason is the Puerto Rican Kike Hernández. The list of Latinos in the Dodgers is completed by the Cuban Andy Pages and the Venezuelans Brusdar Graterol and Edgardo Hernández who stand out as relievers.
Latinos in the Yankees
On the other side of the street are the Bronx Bombers who have eight Latinos in their ranks for this World Series. The most prominent and figure of them is Juan Soto, who has just hit a key home run in the Championship Series.
Other Dominicans on the Yankees roster are Jasson Domínguez and pitcher Luis Gíl. The New York roster also has Venezuelans Gleyber Torres and Oswaldo Cabrera.
Cuban Néstor Cortés was also enabled on the Yankees roster. The Puerto Rican Marcus Stroman and the list is completed by the Mexican Alex Verdugo.
