BASEBALL. It is Baseball Québec Estrie‘s turn to honor the memory of Manon Salvas.
The regional branch of Baseball Quebec recently announced that the Manon-Salvas trophy will be awarded to the outstanding female volunteer of the year in Estrie. The Hervé-Blouin prize will continue to be awarded to the male volunteer of the year.
“Manon was a great volunteer in Estrie and she left us too soon. We are proud to pay tribute to this great volunteer by immortalizing her name on a trophy,” said Baseball Québec Estrie.
Manon Salvas’ family was present at the annual Baseball Québec Estrie gala last Saturday at the Julien-Ducharme center in Sherbrooke to present this award. It was Geneviève Inizan, from Baseball Sherbrooke, who became the very first recipient of the Manon-Salvas trophy.
A long-time volunteer in the regional sports community, Manon Salvas died in 2023, at the age of 66, following a battle with cancer. The same year, the Donald-Mace provincial pee-wee baseball tournament renamed its women’s class in honor of the great lady of Drummondville baseball.
