Now, Monche —as is also known— will move away from badminton to start a new stage as athleteonly this time he will not be competing for a medal or Olympic place, but for a million-dollar prize.
Through social networks, Monche Garrido revealed that he will be part of the cast of the new season of Exatlon Mexico 2024. He uploaded a video on his social networks in which he detailed that he will be participating with the red team.
“Today I want to announce to you with great happiness that I am going to be part of Exatlón México. I am going to give my best in every competition, in every circuit of which I am going to be part; “I’m going to need all your support on social media and seeing me every day in this incredible competition.”

Luis Ramón Garrido Esquivel He was born in Nuevo León on May 10, 1996. From a young age he was exposed to the sport. From the age of 4 he began his training in badminton, a sport with little diffusion in the country. This situation led him to change residence at a young age.
To his 13 years He left Monterrey to seek opportunities to become a high-performance badminton athlete, so he lived for a time in Canadathen he went to Denmark where he specialized in the technique of this sport.
He tried to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, but an illness stopped all his preparation. In 2015 He entered the hospital, they detected him rhabdomyolysisa rare disease characterized by excessive release of the protein myoglobin into the blood, causes muscle destruction in the body and kidney damage.
Luis Ramón completely abandoned the sport, his health condition led him to fight for lifeas he has revealed in different interviews, had kidney failure in the right kidney and the left one had 50% functionality, which caused a strong weakening. He lost all his muscle mass and drastically lost weight.
After 12 months, he pulled through and returned to high-performance sport, but his return was not easy. By 2017, when it seemed to be going ahead, it had a cruciate ligament rupture anterior in one of his knees, then the dislocation of the patella, rupture of the collateral ligament, the patella tendon and the quadriceps tendon.
The injuries were in both kneeshe couldn’t walk and went through the operating room on more than three occasions to heal his knees. In 2022 he made a full recovery and returned to badminton to embark on the road to Paris 2024.
In his performance in the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 won gold and in the Pan American Games Santiago 2023 He won the bronze, qualifying for Paris 2024.
