Mexico City. Olympic and Paralympic medalists were awarded this afternoon by a telephone company.
Two months after reaching the podium at the summer fair in Paris, those selected were recognized and encouraged ahead of the start of the new cycle towards Los Angeles 2028.
“The best of all is that our stories met and inspired millions of Mexicans. Even though I am a veteran competitor, I would like to make it to the next Games and continue making history,” said Arnulfo Castorena, gold winner in para swimming.
Also attending were archers Alejandra Valencia, Ana Paula Vázquez and Ángela Ruiz, team bronze winners, Prisca Awiti, who won silver in judo and Juan Celaya who won silver together with Osmar Olvera in synchronized trampoline.
Present at the awards ceremony was the head of the Mexican Olympic Committee (COM), Marijose Alcalá, who recently presented her application to be re-elected as head of the organization.
“It has been an honor to hold the position and I hope to continue contributing to the improvement of our national teams. I am sure that with the arrival of Rommel to Conade the conflicts will end; I have already taken off my gloves,” she commented.
The elections will take place next Monday.
