Champions League: Stuttgart wins late thanks to Touré, Pulisic sinks a corner straight away

VfB Stuttgart shows a completely different face at Juventus Turin than against FC Bayern and creates a surprise late on. Meanwhile, Christian Pulisic leads AC Milan to victory with a dream goal. The games at a glance.

After their first victory in the Champions League in almost 15 years, the Stuttgart footballers immediately stormed towards their late match winner. In the second minute of added time, joker El Bilal Touré scored the decisive goal for VfB in the well-deserved 1-0 (0-0) at Juventus Turin and made the Bundesliga club celebrate.

Previously, a goal from Deniz Undav was disallowed due to handball after video evidence (48th). Four minutes before the end, Enzo Millot also missed a penalty for the clearly superior Swabians (86th). When it looked as if Stuttgart would remain winless in the third premier class game of the season, Touré struck after all.

“It feels amazing to have won here at a club like Juve,” said national striker Undav on DAZN after the game. “Three days after the Bayern game, which was embarrassing, that was the right answer,” said the striker. “It was a deserved away win for VfB,” said former Stuttgart player Sami Khedira as a TV expert on DAZN. “Three important points with a view to qualifying for the playoffs.”

For Stuttgart it was the first win after four competitive games in a row without a threesome. They now have four points in the table after the third matchday of the league phase. Juve had won their first two games in the premier class.

PSG makes a mistake against Eindhoven

Bayern conqueror Aston Villa is the new leader in the Champions League. The football club from the English Premier League defeated FC Bologna from Italy 2-0 (0-0) on matchday 3 and is the only team with three wins, at least until Wednesday. John McGinn (55th minute) and Jhon Duran (61st) scored for the team from Birmingham. Duran also scored in the 1-0 win against FC Bayern Munich on the previous matchday.

Paris Saint-Germain surprisingly made a mistake against Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven. Spanish coach Luis Henrique’s team only managed a 1-1 draw (0-1) at the Prinzenparkstadion. The 0-1 deficit caused by Eindhoven’s Noa Lang (34th) was canceled out by ex-Dortmunder Achraf Hakimi in the 55th minute. With four points, PSG is only in midfield.

National striker Kai Havertz won 1-0 (1-0) with Arsenal FC against Shakhtar Donetsk and secured their second success. An own goal from Shakhtar goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk (29th) put the Gunners in the lead a few days after their first Premier League defeat at AFC Bournemouth (0-2).

Pulisic with a strange corner

A directly converted corner and two goals from Tijjani Reijnders ensured AC Milan’s first win of the season in the Champions League. The top Italian football club won 3-1 (1-0) against FC Bruges and was able to celebrate the first three points after two previous defeats. The former Dortmund player Christian Pulisic was successful with a corner (34th), the Dutchman Reijnders scored twice (61st/71st).

AS Monaco beat Red Star Belgrade 5-1 (1-1) thanks to a goal from former Bundesliga player Breel Embolo (45th + 4). The French League 1 club secured its second success of the season after defeating FC Barcelona (2-1).

Sturm Graz remains pointless before their appearance at Borussia Dortmund next matchday. The Austrian champions lost 0-2 (0-1) against Sporting Lisbon. The Spanish club FC Girona achieved their first success in the Champions League with a 2-0 (1-0) win against the Slovakian team Slovan Bratislava.
