Thus, as in 2017 and 2023, there will be 125 foreign players this season in the NBA, coming from 43 different countries. It’s a record, and each franchise has at least one foreign player.

For the 11th straight season, Canada has the largest foreign contingent with 21 players, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray and Zach Edey. France follows with 14 representatives, then we find Australia (13) and Germany (6).

For these two countries, it is a record, just like Cameroon which has five players this season, including Joel Embiid and Pascal Siakam. Moreover, 17 players were born in Africa, and this is a record equaled.

Which are the most “international” teams? They are found in the West with the Thunder and the Blazers who each have 7 international players. Followed by the Hawks, Mavericks, Rockets, Magic and Raptors with six players.

The NBA recalls that several Americans also have foreign origins, such as Karl-Anthony Towns with the Dominican Republic or Jaylin Williams with Vietnam.
