After 21 days of intense competitions that tested the level of the 24 provinces in 28 sports disciplines, the Guayas delegation won the title of the XVI National Youth Games “Manabí 2024”.

The event, which culminated in Portoviejo, established the Guayas team as the winner in terms of points: it accumulated 6,731 points, surpassing Pichincha, which obtained 6,573, and Manabí, which added 3,175 units.

The titles achieved in judo, and in men’s and women’s indoor volleyball, were key to securing first place.

“I am proud of the performance of our athletes and the work coordinated with the Technical Methodological Department. It has been a year of much planning and effort. I always say that our obligation is to be first, but what satisfies me most is that the Ecuadorian teams include the greatest number of Guayaquileños,” said Roberto Ibáñez Romero, president of Fedeguayas.

Judo, wrestling and weightlifting have maintained hegemony for more than 10 years, and men’s soccer was once again champion after 7 years.

This is Fedeguayas’ third consecutive championship under the presidency of Ibáñez, who took office in July 2020.

The contest, organized by the Ministry of Sports, took place from September 27 to October 18 with an investment of $895,000.
