Sad news for sports fans. A well-known Slovak commentator has died

Sports fans were hit by the sad news of the death of the well-known sports commentator Ján Lack. Together with their colleague Karol Polák, they were among the great personalities in their field. He has hundreds of commented matches on his account.

The well-known sports commentator Ján Lacko died at the age of 82. His family had to confirm the sad news to Nový Čas daily, according to which the commentator’s health failed.

The Slovak native became famous especially for commenting on hockey. His voice accompanied hundreds of broadcasts from domestic and foreign matches.

​According to the newspaper Zoznam.sk, he also commented on the World Championship, the Canada Cup and many other international events. He also won the World Hockey Championship in Prague in 1985.

His departure also affected hockey fans. They remember him as a great professional. “Too bad, I liked him,” wrote one of his admirers on Facebook. “Great commentator, I remember him fondly,” added another.

Ján Lacko was connected with his colleague Karol Polák, with whom they formed a well-known commentary duo. The Pole died in 2016 at the age of 81.
