After the traditional ring ceremony and the discovery of their 18th championship banner, the Celtics started the season as they had finished the previous one, with a bang, without giving their opponents a chance.

The first basket of the season was scored from afar by Jayson Tatum (37 points, 10 assists), untenable, and launched a one-sided game where the Celtics crushed the Knicks with 29 successful three-point shots out of 61 attempts.

“It’s a unique moment. We couldn’t have done it without you last year. Let’s enjoy the ceremony together. And let’s start again!” Tatum told the crowd during the pre-match celebrations.

Boston, which won the final in five games against the Dallas Mavericks in June after having already dominated the regular season, was once again able to count on Derrick White (24 points) or even the MVP of the last final Jaylen Brown ( 23 points), author of a powerful dunk in the middle of the second quarter.

The Celtics squad did not change this summer, making them the big favorites for their succession.

After his surprise arrival from Minnesota, Karl-Anthony Towns played his first minutes with the Knicks, obtaining 12 points and seven rebounds.
