Slovak striker Martin Pospíšil he’s had a good start to this season, but in recent games he hasn’t been performing like we’re used to, and it all came to a head in Calgary’s game against Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old native of Zvolen had a difficult first period of the match against the Penguins, and things did not get any better for him in the second. After committing the second pointless foul of the match, the opponent managed to equalize.

At that point, head coach Ryan Huska felt that Pospíšil needed to get a message. And so he decided not to use the Slovak for the rest of the second period. For more than 13 minutes, player number 76 just sat on the bench for a penalty.

“Pospišil has had a good start this season, but it was difficult for him tonight. A laziness foul led to a Penguins power play goal. Since then, Pospíšil has not been on the ice,” stated Colton Pankiw.

“Martin Pospíšil ended up sitting out the final 13+ minutes of the second period after his second sack in the offensive zone led to the Penguins’ tying goal on that power play.” noted Darren Haynes.

In the third period, Pospíšil returned to the action and finally played 10 minutes and 22 seconds in a 4:3 victory after raids. He failed to score, so after a three-game point streak, he is now on a three-game point drought.
