Basketball returns to Meira with an eye on the future

“Those of us who were in the club at the time plus new people were getting back together, so we decided to get them together two generations. Goals

In addition to returning to the official competition, in which what they want is to “compete, be a little better every day and have a good time”, CB Vila de Meira works on creating a basketball school “with the idea that next year, or two years at the latest, we will have a base team, men’s, women’s or mixed.”

“The idea is to recover basketball for the base, to sow this sport again, but thinking of the children. So the fundamental objective is to be a showcase for the formation of a core team and I think we will achieve it because in the first game at home it was nice to see many children in the stands and playing in the baskets at half-time”, remembers the president of the Meirego club with excitement.

For now, at a sporting level, CB Vila de Meira competes in Third Divisionin the area that covers teams from the province of Lugo, in the region of Ferrol and the environment of To Coruña. In the first phase, the meirego set is framed in the group Awith eight other clubs in Lugo, rabid, I craftA Coruña, oak tree y spooned.

After the three-day dispute, CB Vila de Meira accumulates as many defeats, against the Sacred hearthe Basket Xiria and the CB Arteixo. “We hope to improve little by little”, points out Méndez.
