Scottish coach Gregor Townsend has appointed Australian center Sione Tuipulotu as captain of Chardon’s XV for the November tests, where he will notably face his country of origin, the federation announced on Wednesday. The Glasgow Warriors player, born in Melbourne, is promoted to this responsibility in place of Rory Darge and Finn Russell, co-captains at the last Six Nations Tournament and now vice-captains.

“Sione has been one of our key leaders over the past two years and he is thriving in this role. We saw this during his outings as Glasgow captain and when he had the opportunity to lead the team against Chile a few months ago.justified Townsend, quoted in a press release from the Scottish Rugby Federation. Scotland will host Fiji, world champions South Africa, Portugal and Australia in November at Murrayfield, Edinburgh’s stadium.

Sione Tuipulotu (27 years old) will guide a group of 45 players which includes his little brother Mosese (23 years old), one of the five players without selection with Alex Samuel, Tom Jordan, Ben Muncaster and Freddy Douglas. Toulouse’s versatile player, Blair Kinghorn, is selected at full-back with Harry Paterson who plays for Edinburgh. On the wings, Townsend will be able to count on Duhan van der Merwe, in addition to Kyle Rowe, Arron Reed and Darcy Graham, back from injury for the first time since the 2023 World Cup.
