The Los Angeles Rams can apparently imagine giving up two of their key players. There are already various interested parties. This could save the Rams a lot of money.
According to a report from The Athletic, the Los Angeles Rams are showing interest in trade options for two of their superstars. Accordingly, quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp could leave the franchise if appropriate offers are made.
Apparently the Rams are already taking calls about Kupp’s personnel – the City of Angels would probably even be willing to take on part of his remaining salary for 2024 if a second-round pick were to emerge in return.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, “many teams” are interested in signing the All-Pro receiver.
Do the Rams want to get rid of Stafford?
And starting quarterback Matthew Stafford is reportedly no longer indispensable. According to information from “ESPN”, the Rams have not seen the 36-year-old as a compelling future project for a long time. Instead, a continuation of the collaboration on a “year-to-year” basis would be considered.
Particularly from a financial perspective, separating from the high earners Kupp and Stafford could make sense and give the Rams more flexibility with regard to the salary cap.
Stafford has a cap hit of $53.7 million for 2025 and 2026, while Kupp counts for $29.8 million and $27.3 million for each of the next two years.
