L’Etoile sportif (ESCCC) celebrated its <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/01/samuel-etoo-new-ambassador-of-choice-for-african-football/” title=”Samuel Eto'o, new ambassador of choice for African football”>centenary in 2023. After having suffered a little hesitation with, among other things, the pandemic, it has found a number of members similar to the period before Covid-19.
With seven hundred and twelve licensees in June 2024, it gained around a hundred compared to 2023. The association returned to eleven sections after the departure of badminton. The most important ones remain football and basketball. Table tennis also recorded a strong increase in registrations, undoubtedly an effect of the Olympic Games.
Bruno Genies, its president, convened the general meeting on Friday October 18 in the village hall. The opportunity for each section to present an assessment of its activities. The shooting section, moribund in 2022, has recovered well. The president of basketball is looking for a successor.
“Give the feeling of belonging to the same club”
The ESCCC has a role of supporting section managers. Every year, it also organizes the associations’ back-to-school forum, a hike and a friendly evening for volunteers. “It’s about bringing members of different sections together to give the feeling of all belonging to the same club »explains the president.
On the financial side, the section treasurers have made the effort to harmonize their presentation of accounts. Cash flow is healthy. The overall budget of the eleven sections exceeds €230,000. The next hike will take place on May 11, 2025 and the volunteers’ evening on March 22.
