Weimar. The Weimar badminton club has had two successful weekends.
The 1. Badmintonverein Weimar is currently riding a wave of success. The first team in particular is currently convincing in the Thuringia League. The team recently achieved two more victories, meaning they are still in first place without a loss. An 8-0 win against Jena-Zwätzen was followed by a 6-2 win against USV Jena in the home sports hall on Nordstrasse.

In the women’s doubles, Lea Wenzel and Kathrin Bamberger from TSV Arnstadt won ahead of Katja Bode/Kristin Koch (1. BV Weimar) and Rebecca Bickel/Juliane Scharfenberg-Reich (1. BC Schmalkalden). Steffen Franke and Jörg Bamberger (TSV Arnstadt) won the men’s doubles ahead of Marco Biele/Danny Schuchhardt (BSG Unit Sömmerda) and Torsten Klein/Ralf Schubert (1. BV Weimar/1. Ilmenauer BC). And the Arnstadt team was also successful in mixed doubles. Steffen Frank and Lea Wenzel won Uwe Michel and Jana Lamprecht from Weimar.
On Sunday the Onion Cup was used to host the C ranking O19 in classes A and B. 61 players took part. In the individual, Dirk Knörig from ESV Lok Erfurt won in the ranking knockout in class B. In Class A, Tobias Lesser from OTG 1902 Gera came out on top ahead of Julian Heidel (VfB Merseburg) and Felix Klawitter (SGlattersee). Kristin Böhme (SV GutsMuths Jena) was on the winner’s podium in the women’s class A category ahead of Lea Schmidt from Kassel and Anne Seifert from Unterpörlitz. The Weimar woman Lilli Stamplerwhich is already one of the Thuringia League team’s points guarantees, reached fifth place. In the women’s singles class B, Kathleen Thyrolf from Weimar prevailed.
