The draw for the WTT Champions in Montpellier offered a Franco-French duel between Simon Gauzy and Félix Lebrun. The latter could find his brother Alexis in the quarter-finals.

The draw for the WTT Champions in Montpellier, the equivalent of a Masters 1000 in tennis, was not kind to the French table tennis players. Félix Lebrun, world No.7, will face his compatriot Simon Gauzy (41st player in the world) in the round of 16 which will begin this Tuesday. “Cool the Champions in Montpellier to play Félix”commented Gauzy with a touch of irony on X.

Félix Lebrun, 18 years old and originally from Montpellier, won two bronze medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games this summer, in singles and in teams with Simon Gauzy and his older brother, Alexis Lebrun. He could also find the latter, 19th player in the world, in the quarter-finals. Alexis Lebrun, 21, was crowned European champion in singles on Sunday and in doubles with Félix, who had to recover from his disappointment in singles (defeat in the quarter-finals).
