Excellent performance by the young cussino judoka <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/11/judo-cusino-nico-volta-gets-the-bronze-medal-in-the-competition-in-tolmezzo/" title="Judo, Cusino Nico Volta gets the bronze medal in the competition in Tolmezzo”>Filippo Santi who, in the international tournament of Spilimbergo, won a splendid bronze medal in the 66 kg category.
Santi – still a Junior category athlete – fought and won against decidedly more experienced Italian and foreign seniors and masters, showing off truly interesting skills. The tournament also counted as a black belt score.
At the sports hall in the center of Pordenone, Filippo’s race started off uphill with the defeat against the Hungarian Hertlik, but the Cussino did not give up and won the second match by ippon against the Friulian Bon, resuming the race towards the finals block. He will win the third match by double waza-ari against the Italian Fabbri, entering the final in 3rd-5th place against Giovanni Boscaia who arrived from the semi-final of the main draw.
Against an athlete of great depth and experience, Santi performs a small masterpiece and again with double waza-ari he deservedly wins the bronze medal to the delight of the coach Giovanni Tieghi who followed all the phases step by step.
Not even time to savor the result and next Saturday Santi will be busy in Lignano Sabbiadoro at the Italian A2 cup final with the best athletes on the national scene.
