Red card for Stefan Kutschke in Wiesbaden heats up tempers, is he also banned from the DFB Cup?

Wiesbaden – The red card for Stefan Kutschke (77th) heated up tempers at 0:1 the Dynamos in Wiesbaden. Was it one, was it exaggerated?

What is certain is that the captain will certainly miss two games – whether in the DFB Cup on Wednesday against SV Darmstadt 98 will be decided by the association.

What had happened? Kutschke slid violently into Florian Hübner, diagonally from behind. However, he didn’t hit him with his outstretched leg, but with his trailing legs. Hübner had to go out afterwards.

“He has a lot of pain in his ankle, something might even be broken,” said Wehen’s coach Nils Döring after the game. With a delay of one minute, referee Lars Erbst (Gerlingen) pulled out the red box. Seen from the stands it was an optional decision, definitely not a must. After his traffic light card in Aue (0:2), the captain’s game was over early for the second time this season.

Dresden coach Thomas Stamm wasn’t even so upset about his captain being sent off as he was about the referee’s double standards.

Tony Menzel alone was fouled nine times during the game, twice badly from behind.

“These are similar scenes to Stefan’s. If he draws red, that’s acceptable to us too. But not like this,” said Stamm angrily: “There shouldn’t be any difference whether someone comes in with 90 kilos or someone who slides in with fewer kilos. It’s the same offense. I missed the line, he lost the thread.”

Even his counterpart Döring agreed with him, which was quite surprising. Kutschke will definitely miss the home game on Saturday against second team Hannover 96. Normally, a serious foul will result in a two-game suspension.

Whether this only applies to the league depends on the DFB, because both the 3rd league and the cup are DFB events.

“We’ll see,” said Stamm. “I’ve already seen everything there. Normally, and I assume that, he won’t be missing from the cup,” said Stamm.

If Kutschke is allowed to play against Darmstadt, a possible second game suspension will annoy him even more. On November 2nd, Dresden will play against his old employer FC Ingolstadt.
