Great participation and many leading athletes at the “Athlete of the Year” award, organized by the UNVS Azzurri section Fulvio Nesti and Egisto Pandolfini Le Signe. The presentation of the awards took place on Tuesday at Villa Alberti, in Signa, with the participation of the mayors of Signa and Lastra, Fossi and Caporaso, with their respective councilors for sport and with the delegate of the Coni of Florence Taccetti who is also the president of the Committee of Award. During the ceremony there was also a moment of remembrance of Beppe Bonardi, a prominent figure (also) in the local sporting world, curated by director Alessandro Calonaci.
Protagonist, Vittoria Guazzini, 24 years old, who won the 2023 Athlete of the Year award. Azzurra of the Fiamme Oro, won the Italian and European championships this year, as well as the gold in Paris. A cyclist who grew up sportingly on the streets of the area, Vittoria lives in Poggio a Caiano, but is often spotted training in the Signe area. The “Emerging National Athlete” award went to Viola Laci, winner of the Italian Super Cup and world champion of salsa, bachata, merengue, and Gaia Spinelli, winner of the Italian Super Cup and world champion of salsa, bachata, merengue, both from Asd Just Dance of Slab. Then the “Territorial Society Award” at the La Lanterna sports club; “Sport and Solidarity Award” to the Asd Shin Do Kan of Lastra. The “National Sports Ambassadors Award” to Valpedo Becagli, historic boxing manager, and to the journalist Antonio Mannori. For the “Veterans of sport” category, the recognition created in memory of Libero Sarchielli was finally assigned to Roberto Alessi (cycling), Paolo Moretti (baseball), Andrea Nepi (volleyball), Stefano Nistri (judo) and Alessio Nunziati (football).
