Solutions are not automatic
After another loss, this time against the Steelers on Sunday night, the Jets worsened their record to 2-5 and their Playoff chances are beginning to look increasingly slim. Only four teams have changed head coaches during the season and reached the postseason that same year, but New York does not seem, at the moment, a team capable of doing so.
The offense has been one of the team’s main problems. It is reiterated: this franchise has plenty of talent, but they have not had the correct execution of it to be able to convert it into results on the playing field. Aaron Rodgers is one of those responsible for that, and it is the quarterback himself who has taken responsibility for his actions. But his pointing finger, argued entirely by what was shown on the playing field, marks some worrying signs in the New York franchise.
New York has serious offensive line problems. With the possible departure of Alijah Vera-Tucker, and his backup Xavier Newman, the Jets will be weak in the most important unit of the offense. And it’s one that has given them problems when analyzing their game: the Jets have trouble establishing the running game, despite having a great running back duo in Breece Hall and Braelon Allen, and there is not enough time for Rodgers in the pocket. Although the QB can quickly get rid of the ball, a team a little more intense in terms of pressure like Pittsburgh exposed those shortcomings.
It is redundant to explain, in addition, the lack of connection that Aaron Rodgers has shown with his receivers, a situation that has triggered crossfire from the quarterback towards his teammates and that has even made Todd Downing become the team’s new playcaller, for example. on offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
